Konark Sun Temple

Awesome achievement of the architects, Sun Temple at Konark, a UNESCO World Heritage, stands majestically amidst the sand dunes arising out of the Bay of Bengal and is one of the well known tourist attractions of India. Built in the 13th century by King Narasimha Dev of Ganga dynasty, the Konark Sun Temple is known not only for its architectural grandeur but also for the intricacy and profusion of sculptural embellishments on both exterior and interior walls.

The temple features some wonderful sculptures of erotic couples joyfully engaging in the most intimate acts. For cultural cognoscenti, the annual Konark Festival and Konark Dance & Music festival held here in December and February respectively are compelling attractions.
